The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
